Rails in Production by David Bock June 10

Near Infinity is proud to host a new class, "Rails in Production: How to Deploy, Secure, Tune, and Monitor Your Production Rails Application", taught by CodeSherpas' Dave Bock. This class will be held on Friday June 10 at the NIC Training Center.

You've build the killer rails app. Now what? This class will go over detailed examples from choosing a hosting provider, through provisioning and securing your servers, to deploying your app, as well as monitoring and tuning performance once in production. In this class, we will publish a real website from scratch, with consideration for real world concerns, like safeguarding passwords, turning on and off application monitoring, multiple machine deployments, and general system administration tasks.

This class is for anyone responsible for deploying live Rails applications. You should be comfortable enough with Rails to generate an app, deal with models and migrations, understand layouts and partials. You'll also need the ability to navigate around a command line.

The instructor, David Bock, has been deploying high-availability, heavily trafficked Rails apps for four years and has amassed some great experience in dealing with different configurations, traffic patterns and optimization techniques.

JavaScript Bootcamp Arrives in February!

Near Infinity is proud to announce that Chris Williams will debut his new JavaScript Bootcamp classes right here at the Near Infinity Training Center, February 10-11, 2011. The JS Bootcamp promises to take developers from being interested in JavaScript to proficiency in just two days.

JS is the scripting language that powers the web and increasingly it is becoming critical for many tasks outside of the browser. Unfortunately, many people, possibly you, are not yet proficient in this highly usable and very important programming language. Maybe you have dabbled with a JS library like jQuery or Prototype, but you now want to understand what is going on and why. Perhaps you program Python, Ruby, PHP, Perl or another language and making your application rich and interactive on the web has you befuddled. Perhaps you are program manager and you want your design and development teams to communicate better with one another Whatever the reason, now is the perfect time to learn JS properly and this is the class for you.

The JS Bootcamp will be taught by Chris Williams, the originator the popular JSConf JavaScript conference, the first real JavaScript conference. Chris is also the producer of A Minute With Brendan and JSConfLive
